Five small clay & ceramic sculptures are positioned in a row on a wooden board. While all pieces are different they all have ears pricked up like Hannah's favourite animals - bunnies, dogs, and cats. Three of the pieces are a deep green colour, one is yellow, and the other is white.

About the artwork

Listen to the artist statement for Listening Ears

Listening ears from my community and supports help me learn, work toward my goals, and engage meaningfully with others so I can live a thriving, fulfilling life. People with disabilities, like myself, need to be truly heard - with ears pricked up, just like my favourite animals: dogs, cats, and bunnies.

Hannah Millar is sitting in a chair looking at the camera smiling. She is wearing a grey woollen beanie and a blue jacket.

About the artist - Hannah Millar

Listen to Hannah's bio

My name is Hannah and I am 13 years old. I enjoy singing and hanging around with animals - especially dogs, cats and bunnies.

I was born with a rare neurological condition, Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum, where the 200 million nerve fibres that connect the left and right hemisphere of the brain did not form. Every aspect of living and learning is challenging, and I am grateful for the support from therapists, teachers, and my church community.

People around me tell me they love the way I sing and groove like nobody's watching, how I show interest in others and remember their names.
