The Disability Inclusion Advisory Council (DIAC) is an advisory body established under the Disability Rights, Inclusion and Safeguarding Act 2024. DIAC will support the Commissioner to promote inclusion. DIAC members are people with lived experience of disability, advocates, and community representatives who will provide strategic advice on issues affecting people with disability in Tasmania.
Its role is to:
- Advise on how policies, programs, and initiatives across the Tasmanian Government can be more inclusive of people with disability, ensuring their rights, needs, and perspectives are embedded from the outset.
- Promote the rights, dignity, and participation of people with disability in all aspects of community life.
- Collaborate with the Commissioner to identify barriers and opportunities for systemic improvement.
- Engage with the broader community to reflect diverse perspectives and lived experiences.
We will soon be recruiting members for the very first DIAC. Information about how you can be part of this recruitment process will be available here.
